[The interview is now up...]

Pink bunny, cape-wearing and one mic Math the Band, Kevin Steinhauser, has learned how to add. Math the Band is now a ‘1+1’ live feverish show on the brink of barmy with its ever-expanding 8-bit sequence Atari-inspired vintage electronic shrine of toys. The girlfriend-boyfriend duo, enter Justine Mainville, are emissaries of slap-happy dance punk explosions. Their synth-torrential and backbeat sounds are a product of screeching vocals, sweat, vomit and broken bones… The tally is weighing in at 7 broken bones and 9 staples to the forehead, but of this I’m not sure, and the count, in all probability, is increasing. Aside from providing injury-prone entertainment for their enthusiastic fans, rumor has it that balloons and sometimes scratch-made cupcakes are choice party favors at their shows. Coupled with their malarkey lyrics and “Everybody have fun tonight” mantra, there’s no wonder why their clatter compositions are contagious. Just listening to the nine tracks of their album Don’t Worry has my eyes scouring the surroundings for a trampoline and quirky fanfare, and when each song ends with the noise of a gong, I can’t help but chuckle. Albeit I’m still uncertain if cassette-nerds Kevin and Justine can carry a ballad in tune, their twenty-five minute division of slipshod tracks on their album is a veritable shot in the arm. And to that my friends, we can dance to.
